2016 Year in Review
Another great year at ASMP! We accomplished a lot in 2016. Here are the highlights of the year:
The addition of another great physiotherapist to our team of professionals – Erica Gerber. Erica joined us through the year and has provided our clinic with a balance of skill and positive energy. Erica has been developing and furthering her manual therapy background with continued education in the orthopedic division manual therapy syllabus. Erica also received training in functional splinting to further assist patients with specific splinting needs.
Alex Doduc continues to further his progression towards his diploma in manipulative physiotherapy with his preparations for the intermediate examinations coming up in the spring of 2017. Alex has had a strong year at ASMP and this advancement in his skill set will be sure to provide excellent results with his patients.
ASMP connected with the local sporting community in 2016 offering support and sponsorship to a number of sports teams and organizations. Through these relationships we were able to assist many youth athletes in recovery from injury and quick return to the field and court. We look forward to another year of building strong relationships in the community as a trusted source for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Early in 2016 ASMP acquired the latest cryotherapy technology with the implementation of GameReady. GameReady is a pneumatic ice compression device widely used in the professional sporting world for acute and subacute management of injuries. Our implementation into the clinic this year has been a big success with many of our patients. This treatment has greatly improved our management of the healing process especially in the acute phase of injury.
Dr. Stephen Wong Shue our Sports Medicine Physician and Dr. Patrick Gamble our Orthopaedic surgeon continue to manage a growing orthopaedic and sports injury caseload. Both physicians are continuously using the latest research in clinical decision making; further enhancing the circle of care for our patients at ASMP.
We are proud with our ever evolving online presence including social media and website enhancements. This year we added a virtual tour of the clinic to our homepage! Hop on aurorasportsmed.ca and check it out! Feel free to share with friends or family that would love to see what ASMP is all about.
The growth of our chiropody, massage therapy and occupational therapy services in 2016 has been a great benefit to ASMP and its clients. Having our talented and experienced staff involved in a variety of cases further compliments our holistic approach to injury management.
What does 2017 bring to ASMP?
As each year passes we continue to enhance and develop the skill sets of our staff to better serve our current and future patients. In the spring of 2017 we are furthering our expertise as a group in Vestibular Rehab, Balance disorders, and Concussion management.
We are pleased to also offer a new method of Acupuncture treatment as one of our physiotherapists is completing his certification in Dry Needling. This treatment strategy compliments the skill set of our staff and ensure patients are able to seek out the best possible strategies for recovery.
We look to continue our relationship with Sport Aurora this year and help promote sport and a healthy lifestyle to the region.
ASMP is always looking to compliment our treatment services. Look for the addition of Naturopathic Medicine later in 2017!
As always our core belief is education to patients and the local community. We look forward to continuing our communication utilizing social media outlets such as facebook posts, our website blogs, and online clinic newsletter to keep our patients updated about what we do and the new innovations in sport medicine and rehabilitation we are exploring!
2017 also coincides with the 150th celebration of Canada! Look for ASMP to be involved in an inter-clinic competition with the ParticiPaction 150 challenge. We encourage all Canadians and especially our local community to get out and be active!
We are extremely excited for 2017 and the many ways we can continue to provide excellence in service, professional advice, and education to our patients and the local community! Have a safe and healthy 2017!!
